specifically designed for snow and ice. If you live in an area with harsh winter conditions, it's recommended that you switch to winter tires once temperatures drop below 7°C (45°F).
Once you've determined that you need winter tires, it's important to gather the necessary equipment. You'll need a jack and stands to lift your car, a lug wrench remove the wheel nuts, and a socket wrench to remove the bolts that hold the wheels in place. It's also recommended that you have a torque wrench to properly tighten the bolts once the new tires are in place. Before lifting your car, make sure it's parked on a flat surface and the emergency brake is engaged. Loosen the wheel nuts before lifting the car and never rely solely on a jack to support the weight of your vehicle. Once the car is lifted and securely supported, remove the wheel nuts and take off the old tire. Install the new winter tire, making sure the valve stem is facing outward, and tighten the bolts hand-tight before lowering the car. Once the car is on the ground, use the torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the recommended torque. Repeat this process for all four tires, and be sure to check the air pressure in each tire before hitting the road. Driving on underinflated or overinflated tires can be dangerous in any weather condition, but especially in the winter. Switching from summer tires to winter tires isn't difficult, but it is important that you do it safely. Always make sure you have the proper equipment and never compromise your safety for the sake of expediency. With a little bit of preparation and caution, you'll be ready to tackle winter roads with confidence.
