Day 7: Welcome to Alaska - KassDays JourneyAfter six days of winding roads, breathtaking vistas, and the occasional moose crossing, Day 7 finally brought me to Alaska. The journey from Calgary felt like a marathon of beauty—rolling prairies giving way to the rugged Canadian Rockies, then the vast Yukon wilderness—but today, crossing that northernmost border, it all hit different. The sign reading “Welcome to Alaska” felt like a victory lap, a reward for not rushing through the stunning landscapes that unfolded mile by mile.
The views today were unreal. As I drove past the last Canadian checkpoint, the snow-capped peaks of the Alaska Range loomed on the horizon, their jagged edges cutting into a sky streaked with soft clouds. The road stretched out like a ribbon through endless forests, with glimpses of icy rivers glinting in the distance. I pulled over more than once just to breathe it in—crisp air, the faint call of a raven, and that wild, untamed vibe that screams Alaska. It took a while to get here, but slowing down let me savor every turn, every vista, every moment of this northern adventure. Now, settled in for the night, I’m buzzing with that “finally made it” energy. Tomorrow, the real exploration begins—but for now, I’m content to let the Alaskan silence wash over me, a perfect end to a seven-day journey. Comments are closed.
