Over the years, the event has helped the club donate more than $2,000,000 to youth groups, sports teams, seniors, scholarships, and other community needs in Cochrane and surrounding areas. The Cochrane Lions Club itself dates back to 1917, embodying the Lions International mission to combat blindness, eradicate measles, and support community projects like environmental care and aid for the hungry and disabled. What started as a local gathering has evolved into a world-class rodeo that celebrates Alberta's ranching heritage, complete with professional cowboys and cowgirls competing in classic events.

What to Expect at the 2025 Cochrane Rodeo
This year's event at the Cochrane Lions Rodeo Grounds (109 Fifth Avenue, Cochrane, Alberta) promises non-stop entertainment for all ages. Saturday, August 30 (PLYGEM Retro Day): Gates at 11:00 am, rodeo starts at 1:00 pm with royalty crowning, mounted shooters, wild cow races, and more. End the night with an 18+ cabaret featuring The Johner Brothers at 8:00 pm ($30 ticket).
Sunday, August 31 (Calgary Co-op Make a Wish Charity Day): Gates at 11:00 am, rodeo at 1:00 pm including cowboy of the year presentation and charity support. A Make A Wish Fun Run starts at 8:00 am.
Monday, September 1 (Veterans & First Responders Day / Championship Monday): Gates at 11:00 am, rodeo at 1:00 pm with Indigenous dancers and final competitions.
