On Friday, April 25, 2025, the streets of downtown Calgary transformed into a kaleidoscope of color, creativity, and unbridled joy as the 11th annual POW! Parade of Wonders kicked off the Calgary Comics and Entertainment Expo. Canada’s largest cosplay parade, this free, family-friendly event drew thousands of fans and curious onlookers to celebrate pop culture in all its glory. From intricate handmade costumes to celebrity sightings, the parade was a perfect invitation to let go

This year’s parade followed a fresh route through Victoria Park, starting at Haultain Park, winding along 13th Avenue S.W., south on Centre Street, and east on 17th Avenue, before culminating at the BMO Centre’s Grand Staircase for the Expo’s opening ceremonies. The new path didn’t dampen the energy—cosplayers of all ages and skill levels brought their A-game, embodying characters from Marvel, Star Wars, anime, video games, and beyond. Standout moments included a towering Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, a squad of Where’s Waldo? enthusiasts, and a rolling ghost trap leading a pack of Ghostbusters. Mayor Jyoti Gondek, rocking a Thor costume alongside Calgary’s dog mayor, Loki, added a local flair, while celebrities like Adam Savage of Mythbusters and Back to the Future’s Jeffrey Weissman (cruising in a DeLorean, naturally) thrilled the crowd.
